I've been remiss in NOT reviewing this device much earlier. We installed this in our MINI R50 Skeeter over 6 years ago based on the recommendation of another R50 owner. It is the best upgrade you can make to the R50 and as stated, does impart a throaty whine to the engine. Our R50 is now 17 years old and just hitting 100K miles. Frankly I have 3 MINIs and 2 Minis and while this is the slowest of our MINIs it's the most fun and go cart like ride of them all. The engines are just air pumps, and this device makes that W10 into a much more efficient air pump!

Great performing intake!!
Bought this intake as the first step in increasing the performance of my R50. I chose it due to the great reviews and recommendations from the forum boards. I have to say that my first day impression is that it really helps the engine breathe better. You know right away the engine revs faster and is noticeably smoother throughout the rpm range. I highly recommend this intake, and the quality of the kit is top notch.

Better Sound, EASY installation, noticeable boost
Just installed this guy today, and so far I love it. I just started tweaking my 2002 MC, and this was my first "major" modification. I'm still relatively new to working on my own car, and this install was EASY. I've heard nightmares regarding removing the resonance tube, but it was actually the easiest step for me, in all honesty. I'm assuming that's probably a bad thing, as the tube itself seemed way too easy to pull out for it to be installed correctly in the first place. Anyway, as for the actual intake, the sound difference is definitely noticeable, although I'm not sure someone who doesn't drive a Mini everyday would notice it. It may also be a placebo affect, but there seems to be a pretty good increase in acceleration. I've only had it in for a day, so more "study" will be needed. Overall, I'm VERY happy with this purchase. The installation was way easier than I thought it was going to be, and the instructions that came with the intake were dead on. If you're just starting out with modding your MC, this intake should be high on the list of first projects.

Hi, I currently have a K&N typhoon filter installed in my mini R50, love the sound, but I believe it's free and open position in the engine makes performance worse than with stock filter. I came across your filter, is the enclosure attached to the original air opening? How much approximately hp gain will it give? And what's the lifetime of the filter? The intake box attaches to the chassis of the vehicle and the intake tube attaches directly to the throttle body. From what we have gathered all intakes add a couple horsepower to the engine on the R50. The filter we use is a foam filter that can be cleaned and re-used. The intakes are in stock are ready to ship. Please let us know if there is anything else we can answer or help you with.
