In any braking system there is flex - in the pedal, in the caliper, but most of the flex is in the brake hose. Every time you step on your brake pedal, up to 1500 pounds of pressure moves brake fluid from the master cylinder to the caliper. Most of the way, the fluid moves through rigid steel brake lines.
Unfortunately, these steel brake lines cannot complete the journey all the way to the caliper because movement in the line is necessary to connect a non-moving part (the chassis) to a moving part (the brake assembly as attached to the wheel). These connecting brake hoses are made from rubber and nylon. Even with the nylon braiding inside the hose, when that much pressure hits it, it will expand. This expansion, or flex, weakens the braking system, as it is responsible for loss of energy meant for the calipers. The High Performance Brakeline kit replaces the stock nylon and rubber hose with race-bred, street brake lines that are constructed from the finest quality hose, consisting of a PTFE inner hose covered by braided stainless steel. In addition to providing a more responsive and firm brake pedal by eliminating the “spongy” feel that often accompanies stock rubber brake lines, these High Performance Brakelines are abrasion and corrosion resistant to stay good looking for a long time to come.
High Performance Brakeline Kits are direct bolt-on replacements for all of the rubber brake lines in the Solstice/Sky/ Opl GT brake system. (Four lines are included in each kit). To ensure proper fit and easy installation, hose ends that match the vehicle’s original equipment style are used.
By conforming to all requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 106, High Performance Brakelines are U.S. Department of Transportation certified. Tensile strength and the ability to contain line pressure to 3,000 pounds per square inch.
